For Libby Walker, storytelling has always been a passion—but turning that passion into a business was the next big step. Now, through Nana Peg Productions, Libby and her business partner Neil Marshall are working to put the North East creatives on the map for film and TV production.

Creating Opportunities for North East Creatives

With backgrounds in independent film, Libby and her co-founder were no strangers to sourcing funding and assembling creative teams. But they saw a bigger opportunity—to build a production company that nurtures the region’s talent, allowing north east creatives to work closer to home without needing to move elsewhere for opportunities.

“We have so much homegrown talent that often goes untapped,” Libby explains. “The North East has stunning landscapes, supportive communities, and the potential to be a major hub for film and TV. Nana Peg Productions is about making that happen.”

Inspiring Others to Follow Their Dreams

For Libby, one of the most rewarding aspects of running her own business is inspiring others to achieve their goals—whether that’s fellow creatives, aspiring entrepreneurs, or anyone chasing their ambitions.

“Being self-employed is something we’ve always known. It comes with ups and downs, but we’ve learned how to plan for quieter periods and use that time to develop new ideas. That’s what keeps the creativity flowing.”

“If you’re a local business or investor wanting to get involved in the growth of the North East’s film industry, or would like to know about current and future projects by NANA PEG why not drop us a message on HIYA@NANAPEG.COM! ⁣We would love to sit down over a brew ☕️” ⁣

How TEDCO Helped

Launching a production company is no small feat, but TEDCO’s support made a huge difference.

“They’ve been absolutely invaluable,” says Libby. “The one-to-one support gave us tailored advice to shape our business, while the group seminars reminded us that we’re not alone—it’s an amazing feeling to champion each other on our business journeys.”

Jeff Thompson, Libby’s business advisor, couldn’t be prouder of what she’s achieved so far:

“Libby has taken centre stage in her own success story, and it’s been fantastic to see her write this next chapter. She had a clear vision for Nana Peg Productions, and we were happy to provide the supporting role to help bring it to life. The North East’s creative scene is lucky to have her, and I have no doubt this is just the opening scene for something much bigger.”
