On 1st October, Tyneside business Frontline Integrity were formally presented with the 2024 King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. The company was one of 252 organisations in the UK to receive such an award, but one of only three from Tyne and Wear.
Established in 2020, Frontline Integrity offer independent pipeline integrity consultancy and bespoke software solutions to the mining and energy industries across the world. The award recognises their outstanding short-term growth in international trade.
Early on, Frontline Integrity sought support from TEDCO through our Digital Track programme. Technical Director and Principal Engineer at Frontline Integrity, Brian Kerrigan, said of the experience:
“Jeff [Thompson, TEDCO Business Advisor] was there from the very start, providing me with a clear path and opening doors for local opportunities and training.”
We’re delighted to see a business we’ve supported go from strength to strength, and gaining accolades for their impressive growth.
The King’s Award for Enterprise
Previously known as the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the King’s Award was renamed last year to reflect King Charles III’s desire to continue his mother’s legacy in recognising outstanding UK businesses.
Now in its 58th year, the award is the most prestigious of its kind in the country, with recipients able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
The ceremony was conducted by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Ms Lucy Winskell, OBE accompanied by her Clerk, Mr John Robinson; Lieutenancy Officer, Mrs Josephine Stewart; HMLL Cadet, Cadet Flight Sergeant Alex Sutherland, RAFAC; Councillor Steve Cox, Chair of North Tyneside Council and Mrs Debbie Cox.
“The best of business in the North East”
Working in the oil and gas industry as an experienced engineer, Brian has overseen a range of integrity projects in more than 30 countries over the years. He set up Frontline Integrity to support customers to maximise safe pipeline operations, protecting people and the environment.
When presenting Frontline Integrity with their award, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Ms Lucy Winskell, said:
“Your track record in such a short time, over just a handful of years, is astonishing. You represent the best of business in the North East, you represent the best of UK business and I will watch your future progress with much interest.”
Digital Track: starting strong
Brian and his team undertook the leadership modules of the Digital Track programme, which provided them with space to reflect on leadership within the organisation, identify key skills, and plan for business growth.
The programme was offered exclusively to businesses in Newcastle, North Tyneside, and Northumberland, and was funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority. From marketing and growth to leadership, the programme supported all areas of starting a business, and was delivered through a combination of in-person and online workshops.
TEDCO Business Advisor, Jeff Thompson, worked with Brian throughout the course, and says:
“I’m thrilled to see how Brian and his team are using what they have learned to support the growth of their business, and continue to reach new heights.”
The Digital Track programme is now complete however, we’d love to hear from other businesses seeking similar support to see how we might be able to support you.
