TEDCO’s recent Get Trading programme is proving hugely successful for its attendees. Offered to entrepreneurs across all sectors and backgrounds, the most recent cohort was entirely comprised of female professionals looking to establish new businesses.
According to Finder, only one in five UK companies are led by women, despite women making up 51% of the population. The recently completed September Get Trading programme actively encouraged and supported, five enterprising women, giving them the tools, knowledge and confidence they needed to see their business start and flourish. Get Trading: a programme designed to build confidence and community
Get Trading encourages South Tyneside residents to progress their business ideas to the point of beginning to trade. This is often the most daunting time for any business owner, but Get Trading offers support from TEDCO Business Advisors with a wealth of experience under their belts.
It’s also a fantastic way to build a support network, introducing soon-to-be entrepreneurs to others in a similar boat, fostering a culture of positivity and support.
Support when you need it most
Get Trading is a three week programme, with all sessions held in-person. Attendees are taken through all aspects of starting a business, from firming up your idea and starting to plan to making connections, sales forecasting, and making the transition to trading.
Sessions are informal and chatty, with refreshments provided. TEDCO Business Advisor Allison Nicks took the September cohort through the programme, and says:
“It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch September’s Get Trading team grow in confidence week-on-week. The Get Trading programme is designed to take the mystery out of starting a business, and there is no such thing as a stupid question. The group got stuck in from day one, supporting each other as they learned.
“The fact that September’s group was entirely female made the programme feel particularly special. Women are still underrepresented in the business world, but the future is bright with these fantastic women taking the wheel.”
